At the age of 99 years, Mary Spencer of Beaverdam Community in Cherokee County, South Carolina, was still able to read her Bible without having to wear glasses.
This photograph was shot in existing light on Kodak Tri-X Pan 35mm black-and-white film. It earned top awards in both the South Carolina Press Association and National Newspaper Association competitions.

Thank you, Judy. She was a sweet lady who lived a long and blessed life. The chenille bedspread was once a popular household item. I did an oil color of this photo but never made a copy before it was sold. Also, I was honored that an artist friend of mine also used the photo for a painting.
