Crossing the divide between past and present, with a huff and puff along the way, Clinchfield Railroad Number One steam locomotive navigates the Catawba River trestle near Marion, North Carolina on a passenger trip from Spartanburg, South Carolina to Johnson City, Tennessee. The old engine, which was revived for awhile to provide passenger excursions in the southeastern United States, was believed to be the oldest steam locomotive still operating in the nation.

This photograph was shot on Kodak Tri-X Pan 35mm black and white film with a 35mm wide angle lens on a hand-held camera. The train was much closer in my second shot, but unfortunately it was slightly out of focus. I can't imagine why.
