A lattice work of engineering, Kings Creek Railroad Trestle spanned field and stream in upstate South Carolina.
The track was a Southern Railway line which ran from Kingville SC to Marion NC. Carolina Coastal once used the portion from Kings Creek to Blacksburg. The rail bed beyond Kings Creek was ripped up years ago. A relic from the past, the 96-foot-high Kings Creek Trestle was 1,215 feet long. This line was known for using a "spacer" car between two engines due to the weight limitation of the curved trestle over Buffalo Creek, about half a mile west of this location. SC Highway 5 between York and Blacksburg followed the old tracks for a distance on its way to Kings Creek.
This photograph was shot on Kodak Tri-X Pan 35mm black and white film.
