The diamond ring effect photographed unfiltered in natural light during the 2017 total solar eclipse on the path of totality in Laurens, South Carolina. The diamond ring effect occurs both at the beginning and end of totality during a total solar eclipse. As the last rays of sunlight pass through the valleys on the moon's limb, and the faint corona around the Sun is just becoming visible, it gives the impression of a glittering diamond ring. Colorful solar flares appear amid the corona along the moon's rim in this photograph. Distant stars are visible as tiny points of light.

The capture is one thing...the title paired with it takes my Breath AWAY, Rodger...WONDERful...but then again, I remember my guy, who when presenting me with my natural Star Sapphire ring said, he couldn’t get me the sun or the moon...but he could buy me ...a star!! Yeah, you are onto something with this beauty!
