Description
The midday sun peeks over the top of the Peachoid water tank. The Gaffney Peachoid is a familiar landmark, roadside attraction to travelers along Highway I-85 in upstate South Carolina. The big peach is a 150-foot-tall, million-gallon water tank constructed in 1981 by the Board of Public Works. Gaffney is host to the annual South Carolina Peach Festival. Visitors can take Frontage Road off I-85 and visit Millwood Park, where this photo was shot, for a closer look at the Peachoid.
